God created you for action and mission, not to be passive. Vegging on Netflix, binging on video
games, and doom-scrolling as substitutes for porn do not align with His design. Those are lives of consumption. Such activities may provide temporary relief, but likely won't prevent you from returning to porn in the long run.
Once you've chosen your identity, you can start building it. If you identify with the wicked and wish to continue that way, close this book and return to your life. If you aspire to be the righteous man, continue reading.
As mentioned in the introduction, God allows addiction to bring you humility, enabling a proper relationship with Him and fulfilling His divine purpose for you on earth. This is challenging but yields significant rewards in this life and the next.
Choosing to please yourself contrary to God's will fosters pride, which hinders your relationship with Him. Pride must be eliminated to cultivate right relationship with God.
Getting hooked was not your fault, but it is your problem.
How did you get here?
Generally speaking, most if not all men suffering from pornography addiction believe that they independently discovered pornography, and just simply became addicted of their own free will. They blame themselves for getting addicted, and beat themselves up for not being able to break free of it.
Feminism has only embellished this lie, using it to shame men. Countless well- meaning men who are trying to help each other overcome this addiction also use shame and guilt as a tool to try to motivate each other to break free, except it compounds the problem.
The average age of first exposure to hardcore pornography in America is around 11-12 years old. However, due to the widespread availability of explicit content online, many children are exposed even earlier, with some reports suggesting the average age could be as low as 8 years old.
An 8 year old just barely possesses the use of reason and is poor at using it. His culpability for exposure to pornography or it’s subsequent effects is minimal if at all.
The truth is that pornography is a weapon of social and political control used by governments like China, Israel, the U.S. and others to demoralize the target population and make them slaves to sin, which makes them stupid and easily controlled.
Example, in 2002, Israeli troops captured the Palestinian town of Ramallah in the West Bank. They also captured the television stations. The Palestinian people were unable to leave their homes, and stayed tuned to their local TV stations for information about the siege. Suddenly, videos of hard-core pornography were broadcast across the TV stations in front of entire families as a form of psychological shock and demoralization of the local population.
In 2013, it was reported by the AP that the U.S. was intentionally addicting inmates of Guantanamo Bay Prisonto pornography, then using porn as a reward for the inmates providing information. And in 2022, amid anti-Covid lockdowns in China, the Chinese government flooded Twitter with pornography, using the hashtags of the Chinese cities in which the protests occurred, so that the deluge of pornography would drown out any ability to find posts about the protests.
